Securing plate for droop stop rubber

Post by Melchior »

Hi,

the 330 catalog shows 2 items on Tavola 29 (parts 46 and 47) that obviously shall secure the rubber droop stop at the front suspension - please see picture. Does anybody ever have seen these 2 items or in best case have dimensions and a picture of these? I do have a 250 GTE and miss these. I suppose the situation being the same at the two models 250/330, right?

Best regards,

Martin

Martin: Those parts were originally designed for the 2+2 (508E) chassis.

Thank you for the information. I am not aware which model name the frame of my GTE does have but it is a 2+2. Please see the picture of the section where the droop stop rubber is mounted - would there be the two parts originally? I understand that these shall be fixed on the underside to secure the rubber?!

Yes, they go on the GTE as well. It's the same part and size as for the 330. I just purchased a pair from Ciccogiani (sp?) I had to trim a little of the bevel off to get the part to squeeze into the hole where it mounts.

Your GTE should also have the welded steel bar (#41) that the bumper rests on. It's not clear in your picture if you have one.

Hello Tom, I guess you mean these 2 welded parts (please see picture/marked blue), right? Does you car have the two securing plates shown in the 330 catalog on Tavola 29 (parts 46 and 47) that seem to secure the rubber part (45)?

Yes, those are the plates, you should have appropriately sized nuts and bolts to secure them to the lower a arms. They will rest on the little rubber bumper. I had to shave the rubber bumper down for it to press into the hole in the chassis.

Ok, understood, thank you Tom. What about part Nr. 46 and 47 in this tavola of the 330 catalog? Does the 250 GTE have these? At least these are missing in my car?!

I don't believe the GTE has these.

Those parts looked familiar, but I guess not! Probably comes from all the time I spent with those drawings...

From my experience, it takes a great deal of force (even with lubricant) to insert today's #45 in the hole that is in #41, which makes #46 and #47 unnecessary.

I made the same experience when mounting the rubber part 45 and consider parts 46 and 47 as useless too. I just wanted to make sure there is nothing missing and my car meets factory standard. As nobody I talked to ever saw these parts in real I conclude that the factory came to the same conclusion and skipped these 2 parts, at least for the GTE I estimated that these came without these 2 securing plates.

Thank you all for your expertise.
