Heater Core

Post by John Vardanian »

How much dismantling is involved in removing the heater rediator? Is it necessary to remove the dash? The car in question is a 250 GT PF. The system should be similar to that of the 250 GTE's, meaning, the air supply comes from the small grill located between the windshield wiper bases.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi John,

From the looks of it, the Dash probably has to come out, or at least it will make it easier to get it out:

I've just done this to my PF Coupe and the dash has to come out to do it properly.

The heater core in mine was in very bad shape and I had a plumber make up a new one in copper tubing to go inside the heater unit.

Roger,

Could you tell me how many fasteners are used for holding the dash in place and their locations? What needs to come out first before the dash comes out? Thanks.

John,

From memory, on mine there are around 6 screws around the front edge of the dashboard that need to come out and then around 4 bolts underneath the dash that hold it in place.
