Vintage ownership question

Post by judge4re »

Tom, Yale, et. al.

I just reached a deal on a Mondial 8 to keep the 365 GT4 company in the garage. I am going to get looked down upon by this group?

Ducking for cover...

Oh Erik!

We try and try and try and try and now this! Where have we gone wrong?

LOL, congratulations on a stablemate for your V12. Nothing like having a couple of different styles of Ferrari caviar in your garage!

V12 2+2 and V8 2+2 down, V8 GT and V12 GT to go. That should be enough for a while. The wife has approved a 2 seater V8 purchase in 2005. Life is good.

Hi Erik,

Don't worry about me! I still consider a Ferrari built after 1972 as being a "newer" car! The V-8 thing,...well, that's another thing! ;-)

Well Erik, We had a Mondial 8 & the 330 at the same time, so I understand. Amazing the differences in the ride, handling, etc. Have fun.

Ours was a 1981 Euro version s/n 36213. Any questions, call me. We had ours for >14 years, so if there was anything to work on, we probably did it.

Not bad on the track; slower on the straights than its contemporary 2 seaters, but seemed to handle race track type turns better. Better balanced? LJH

I would like to have a late 80's-on Ferrari in addition to my 330 2+2, or
more realistically if I sold the 330.

The doable choices would be a 328 or 348, dream-and-scheme-on would be a 550 Maranello.

The 330 is what I wanted and it was actually an easier sell to my wife than late model rear engine Ferraris - I presented that option to her as well. She sees the 330 as a bigger, safer, more traditional car, and thinks it suits me better.

It is a beast around town, especially in weather extremes. The old 2+2's weren't designed to be used extensively as city drivers. They were meant for the European open roads.
