What tire pressure are folks using for the 250GTE ?

That really depends on what kind of tires you have, and what they recommend.

same front and rear (do not do that on a 911)

If I recall, it is 33 psi with my Pirelli All Season tires (V rated, steel belted). Your max pressure should listed on the sidewall. Go close to max for the track and better mileage, less for street comfort.

For the track I would actually go a little lower. The real way to know what's going on is to chalk a section the tread of your tire, and see what is contacting the pavement. A couple of pounds here and there can make a difference.
