Thanks for that sage advice. When things get like that, I'm convinced that you can't overpay (within reason) for an excellent example.

I think the 5-speed may be the way to go
as I usually find myself downshifting and upshifting manually
and often wishing for a wider range of gear selections
and the Auto is not really suited to this type of useage
(I know mine was lunched after only abt 75K miles)
the 5-speed model is a lot more rare critter, however
(and percived as being more desireable)
so be prepared to pay a premium...
My suspicions confirmed. Although I can live with an auto, all things being equal, I'd just as soon shift my own.

seems like an OK ride (if you can deal with the color)
Yes, I saw that one. Green, no? Ah, what a co-incidence - my favorite color. I though it looked wonderful.

Yes, I think I could easily see myself with a 400i. It's officially on the list of contenders! Thanks!

I think he was referencing the red 5 speed out of the northwest owned by the guy who either builds or sell the personal jets. My friend flew out from Texas several months ago to check the machine. After all these descriptions of a 'clean' car, he found a car with a marginal repaint, poor interior, rust above the windshield and delaminating front and rear windshields. Despite having paid for the plane ticket and hotel room, my friend passed on the car. Just FYI, I have no interest in the car and haven't seen it myself

I was referring to the 'resale red' one yes.
(in the NW with Jet Planes and all)
it is disappointing to find out that it was a 'fright pig'
but not all that unexpected given the length of time on the market
and the heavily discounted asking price (and still NO SALE)
