truck carpet color

Post by grumpy2 »

Is the truck carpet the same as the inside of the car? My car has only 25K on it and everything seems to be orginal but the truck is dark blue and the inside is tan. what do you all think?

Most trunk carpets I've seen is black and did not match the interior carpets. I'm currently trying to find the correct replacement "square weave" carpet for the trunk, so stay tuned!

330 GT, red interior carpet, red square weave trunk carpet. Most probably original.
PF Coupe, tan interior carpet, tan square weave trunk carpet. Likely original.

carpet

Post by grumpy2 »

I have started the big re-do of my car. there are no indecations that the car have been changed every. After taking the seats out the intierer carpet seems to have been a light gray, but the leather is tan. Has anyone seen this before? One other thing the number hand reten on the back of each panel is in referince to what?

Thanks Grumpy2

Hi Grumpy2,

I don't beleive two tone interiors are out of the ordinary.

The 3 digit hand written number on the back of the seats is the PF number, which is a sequential number assigned to each car as it was assmebled at the PF factory. This number usually corrosponds with the Ferrari SNs. If you take your spare tire out of the trunk, and look closely around the floor of the trunk near the hold-down, you should see a 1/4 inch stamped number that should be the same as the PF number written on the back of your seats.

The easiest place to look for the Pininfarina body number is on the latch area at the rear of the hood. Just open the hood a few inches and look through the windshield.

This one is 695.

Hi Tom,

I've seen other cars with two-tone color combinations, so it could be original to the car.

If the color combination appeals to you, keep it the same, but if you find something that you like better, change it. Usually, if the change is not drastic, a color change does not hurt the value of the car. Remember, it's your car, and it should make you happy!

I'm also looking for the square weave carpet - if I find a source I'll post. We've probably got enough guys looking that we could buy a roll.

Hey Guys,

I'm one of the guys on the lookout for correct square weave for your Ferraris. Unfortunately, it is quite a bit different from the German square weave that we use so often in my shop. I sent some samples of the German carpet to a few of you, but it is more of a salt & pepper look than the all black carpet used in Ferraris. If any of you are looking for a more affordable, albeit not 100% correct carpet, feel free to drop me a line. Here is the tan as used in my BMW.

Al

ps - Tom, I am still looking for the correct stuff, but sources are drying up.
