Keith Martin's America is up for auction on ebay.  Keith is owner of Sports Car Magazine and this car has been written up several times in it.

...and I thought Keith wanted to keep the sale of his car "low key!"

He sent me pictures of this car a few weeks ago, and it's a pretty nice car, besides needing engine work. Unfortunately, as Sheehan has been saying in "SCM," a "valvejob" is not so simple nor cheap when it comes to Ferraris!

How much $$ do think it will end up going for? (If the reserve is met) &nbsp

Hi Chris,

That's a tough question. As a 330 America owner, I hope it bids up pretty high! ;-) GTEs in this kind of shape usually sell in the $30-40K range, so how much the America's worth for their rarity is anyone's guess. In the two years I've been working on my restoration, I have yet to hear of another America in running condition for sale. If there is someone out there who HAS to own an America, the bidding could go high. I guess we'll see in the next sevral days!

Are you considering?

I have always wanted a vintage 12 cylinder Ferrari. I don't know about buying one sight-unseen on EBay though. I have seen the prices for 330s and was just wondering how much the rarity of being an American would/will bring. Currently the bid is at $20,600 which is probably a deal even with the needed valve job.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately there are still plenty of days left for bidding, so I doubt the price will stay at $20,600.

If you're interested in a Vintage V-12 Ferrari, I know of a couple for sale. E-mail me if you're interested. Where are you located?

well it's over $30,000 now. I hope It keeps going up as it will confirm the great value of your gem. looking at the ebay photos it appears the dash is white-so maybe the car was originally white. I can see easilly putting 30-40k in this car. &nbsp

Hi Steve,

Here's the only auction that seems to be getting cheaper! It's back down to $25K???

Keith bounced a bidder who went bad on another deal. This of course resets the bids back to reality.
