Tom,

These guys have an Avon in 205 x15, but only HR rated. http://www.vintage-tyres.com/ Otherwise, you could think about 225/70 VR15 -actually only 9mm wider.

Hi Tom:

I bought new Avon 205-15 tires for my Series I 330 a few years ago.  I got them through British Wire Wheel (http://www.britishwirewheel.com/).  I think, however, that they said the five I bought were the last they had and they didn't plan on importing any more in that particular size.  However, you might check with them and see if they could order some for you.  They were pretty reasonable, I think about $125 apiece.

Alternatively, Vintage Tyre Supplies (http://www.vintage-tyres.com/vintageindex.htm) also lists the Avon 205-15 size on their website, so I'm sure they'd be willing to sell you some.  They are in England, however, but then that's probably no further away for you than California.  I don't know what their price is, as I couldn't find it listed on the website, but an email would probably get you that information.

What is the actual recommended size for your car?  The Series I 330s came with Pirelli Cincurato 205-15 as standard and in fact that was what was on my car when I bought it four years ago, but they were a bit old and hard and really needed to be replaced.  I've been quite happy with the Avons.  They're probably not the stickiest tire you could get but they make it fun  and easy to slide around fast corners and are probably the closest thing to the original tire technology available.

Good luck,

John

Tires really have a usefull life af about 7 years. Don't go using NOS as they will get hot and probably fail.
