250 GTE Series III headlamp buckets
Tom W - man, you are a life saver.......I've copied your narrative and a couple of the pictures into an email that I've sent to Bruce Marquand at Symbolic Motorcars (where my car currently resides).
I don't have the correct headlight buckets -- does anyone know where I can get them? Remember, I had to remove the old (wrong) Series II clip and put a correct Series III front clip on my car. For some reason I don't have "built in" headlamp buckets (they have been removed).
Please advise,

Help Needed w/Marchal Parts
Guys - good to see that so much great information got shared from my initial post on this subject.
However, I have a couple issues for which I'd be grateful:
(1) Marchal Foglamps - Tom Wilson says his lights are marked 670 and 690, but others I've talked to with Series III cars say their foglamps are marked 670 680. Any idea of the difference? (the outer glass appears to the same).
(2) Headlamps - I am missing the correct buckets because someone replaced them years ago with Cibie units (glass/buckets)......I'm in dire need of the correct buckets or after a $150,000 restoration my car will fail to get back on the road because of proper lighting! (ugh)......
Anyone who can help?

There is someone from Norway offering a set of ampliluxes complete with buckets. The bad news is he is dremaing of getting $900 for them when the realistic price might be half of that at tops.
I think the buckets were a common item in the day as many cars required replacements of buckets if one install ampliluxes, which largely were only offered with the French fixings, it seems. Rallye and Police Volvos used these, which might explain why this set came up in Norway in the first place.
I also think that it might be difficult to find buckets today as people throw them away as they can't think anyone would ever need one. I have found one, which I would be happy to give away cheap, if you needed it.
Best wishes, Kare

TomW posted a good picture of the bulb.kare wrote: PS. I need photos of both bulb and the piece that keeps the bulb in place. I have none and would like to know how they look like.
I found the current replacement is a Lucas LLB410 bulb, fits exactly and the same 40/45 wattage.
A regular three prong socket designed to fit a high/low seal beam fits.
I got new ones at a local auto parts store. BTW, starting clockwise from the wire on the right (red one) is the high lead, low lead (yellow) and ground (black).
The back of my reflectors have spring clips that hold the bulb in place, no other fittings as you can see in the picture. The picture of your reflector has those clips so you should be in business with new bulbs.

I don't know if this is news for anyone, but for a long while I've been wondering where to get correct bulbs for my Marchal headlights. I've been hearing that they are still available but haven't seen any until last weekend. The bulb name is Osram R2 and there are two versions: a pointy bulb and a round one named "Classic". I bought a pair of classics for 5.40 euros and they fit right in...

I just found one Marchal headlight and bucket in my part stash and it includes exactly the same clip that you have. On my clip, however, the tip on all three brass contacts were broken off. It was very difficult to see the damage and only when I stuck in a small screwdriver and bent the contact a little, the loose tip would fall out. I had already checked out the wiring three times and could not understand why it still wouldn't work!Tom Wilson wrote:Looking closely at the clip brings up two questions. First, what is the tab at the bottom for? There is no wire on my car or on the electrical drawings that would attach to it. Second, what is the purpose of that loop of metal with the flat clip at the bottom? It looks like a flashlight bulb should go here and be powered by the extra tab. My guess is this is a generic clip purchased from some other company and that it had some purpose in another car or possibly a European Ferrari. Any ideas?
This type of damage is caused by something that is called season cracking. It is a type of stress corrosion cracking, which sometimes occurs in brass that has been shaped in a way that leaves great internal stress into the structure. The cracking is agitated by impurities in the metal or its environment.
I am very excited to find something in my garage that has such a strong connection to the core of my education! The bottom line however is that if my clip was made of brass that cracked, yours may also crack and I would either eximine those clips very carefully or just replace them.
Best wishes, Kare

Re: Correct Marchals for 250 GTE/330 America
Does anyone have a good source for foglight lenses for a Series 3? My car has orange lenses, which i dont believe are correct since orange was only used in Monaco and France. Also, are the lenses affixed with clips like the headlights? Thanks

I still have a bunch of Marchal stuff on the shelf, in storage (mostly used, some NOS). Which number lense/light do you need?

The fog light reflector and lens are held in place with four or more clips. They're kind of tricky to get out and place back in . A small screw driver can be used to pry them out, but wear safety glasses!silver1331 wrote:Does anyone have a good source for foglight lenses for a Series 3?
