Knobs on GTE seat recliner handle
Does anybody have a source for the two piece black plastic balls that go on the end of the seat recliner handles? Pretty generic looking and a hard rubber ball would probably work fine. If there is no source, my brother is into 3D printing and might be able to make some..

Re: Knobs on GTE seat recliner handle
Ok, I learned something this weekend... Series I GTEs do not have the same reclining mechanism as Series III cars, thus do not have this knob. Do Series II cars have it?
This is what it is supposed to look like: This is what it looks like when the knob falls off...

Re: Knobs on GTE seat recliner handle
Oops got those last two photos reversed!
There is also some confusion over my statement that it is a two piece part. It is manufactured as two pieces and snapped together, so it may not look like a two piecer.
This is the bottom slot, which gets trashed when you remove it from the handle and will no longer hold the knob on. This is what it looks like inside. Anybody know where to get some of these?

Hi Tom,
I think the SIII cars are the only ones with recliner mechanisms. SI and SII GTEs have simple hinged seats. Their internal constructions is also vastly different. All the 2+2 330s have the basically the same seat as the SIII GTE. I may have at least one set, but I'll have to cannibalize it from a pair of old seats...

Re: Knobs on GTE seat recliner handle
Thanks Tom - the design of the handle, with its rough edge makes it stay put once you shove the knob on. However, the same design trashes the plastic when you pull it off. I may be able to use some glue or liquid plastic to reinforce that slot, but unfortunately, after Monterey, I only have one and one half of a knob left. Since there does not appear to be much of a market for these things, I will investigate 3-D printing, something that I would like to see anyway.

I Have one half that is stuck on the shaft. Is that the part you need? I can carefully try to remove this one, and you can have it if I'm successful. If I can find some time over the weekend, I'll try to pull it off without breaking it.

Mike Dunn used to make these. I don't know the status of his company lately though. I think I have a single one somewhere as one came off, but later I found it after I bought a replacement.

Mike sold all to Perfect Reflections, who's parts division seems to have melted down. I will ask and see if they have any left on a shelf somewhere.
