Hood release handle mechanism

Post by Jumprun »

Does anyone have a photo or reference to what the hood release handle and mechanism looks like? mine is completely missing except some remnants of the bracket welded to the bulkhead.

Hi Jumprun,

You're in luck! I just photographed this handle for another GTC owner this week.

I was more focused on how the cable is attached to the handle in this picture so I cropped off the whole knob in this picture, but I think you get the idea. How the cable connects to the rod is what I'm researching. This car has a cable clamp to secure the solid wire after it's threaded through a hole drilled through the handle rod. I think the original method was different. Still researching.

Thanks Tom!
Here’s what I have now, not much to go by, but your picture is a start. I think I’ve seen pictures of the handle and rod, but not the bracket. It looks like the cable is bent up at a right angle, lame design.

The original bracket was pretty crude, but it looks like the part of the bracket that held the pivot broke off. I can try to take more detailed pictures if you need it.

Thanks again Tom, sure get a better picture of the bracket if you can, in your spare time of course

Once I make the bracket I’ll post a picture for posterity.

Shameless plug that may assist.

Neil over at Newco products has reproduced the handle.
Model: FER-HOOD-LEVER-M6

You will need the bracket and a special shoulder M6, I think, bolt to hold it all together.

You have to ask for a quote.
Just one of the random things I found whilst trolling on the interweb.

Thanks for the sources guys, it looks like I won’t need to reverse engineer the handle from photos.
