Original carpet binding and heel toe mat for 1960-1963 Ferrari
Original carpet binding and heel toe mat for 1960-1963 Ferrari
Dear All,
How would Original carpet binding and heel toe matt look for 1960-1963 Ferrari, e.g. 1963 Gte. Was the carpet bound in leather, sky or wool?
How did the original toe mat look like?
Thanks a lot.
Chris

On this car, the heel pad was a piece of vinyl, but this is not normal for a GTE. I think they didn't have the same material for the heel pad to match the carpet so that was what they used. You can see it in this picture. What color will your carpet be?

Dear All,
I do have some questions you might be able to answer with your experience:
1.) What would be the color of the boot carpet for a 250 Gte with red interior carpet? Would it be also red or black?
2.) Would it have driver and passenger toe heel pads? What color and material would these be? Is the material available somewhere?
Thanks a lot. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Christopher

My Series III has red carpet and red in the trunk It also has a red drivers toe mat, but will have to check on the material.
Re: Original carpet binding and heel toe mat for 1960-1963 Ferrari
Hi Tom,
I have pictures of your trunk with the nice suitcases from Minterey.
So red in the trunk was original.
It would be great to see a picture of an original toe mat. Thanks

Hi all, I am also redoing my carpets in very near future - already dissambled the whole interior. A picture of the toe mat would be very helpful - thank you.

Hi All, hi Tom,
what color would the binding originally be. Same color as carpet? My carpet will be red. Would red binding be right ?
Thanks

Yes, red binding would probably be correct.

Hi Chris. If I make a suggestion, it would be worth your while to look into HVL's offerings before you commit to purchasing the material. In my experience, their material comes closest to the original.

Hi John,
thanks for the hint. Will check with them. Carpet I already have from Trinchero, same as you get from Reoriginals. Need just binding.
Thanks

Chris, speaking from recent experience, I'd leave the binding to your upholsterer. Apparently, there is vinyl and then there is vinyl. I bought spools of binding from HVL and my upholsterer rejected them, and he showed me why he refused to use it. He found vinyl in the same color and then when he showed me a side by side comparison of his vs. mine, I understood why he didn't want to use the binding I bought. It's hard to get clean results around the tight bends unless the vinyl is forgiving form multi directions. Now, there you have it.

Hi John,
thanks for the advice. I asked Trinchero for a sample to discuss with my upholsterer. He already gave me advice on what to look for. As soon as I have something that I consider I will post it to discuss. Thanks for all your support and the positive and constructive communication on this site. I very often makes my day! The car is one part of the fun, reading and communicating with you all is the other part.
