Did anyone know the Vintage Motor Car Co in Encinitas, CA?
If you saw my earlier post, you'll know that I have been researching the history of my 330, s/n 9453. The second owner, who had the car for 20 years, sold it to the Vintage Motor Car Co in Encinitas, CA. Their address was 1049 Highway 101, and their phone number 619-944-9997.
The car was sold in the Ferrari-crazed late 1980s for $115,000, which is an even more startling figure when you consider that it was sold from a private owner to a dealer. (Adjusted for inflation, that would be over $175,000 today.)
I noticed (thanks to Kerry Chesbro's great website) that the same Vintage Motor Car Co offered four different 330 GTs around October or November of 1989. Including my car, they also offered 8889, 7489, 5659. (s/n 8889 would be offered, seven months later and by another company, for $145,000!)
I'd really like to find out who the Vintage Motor Car Co sold my car to. They were still around by 1993 (although I would have imagined that purchasing 330s for over $100,000 would have put them out if businesss sooner!). I'd appreciate any info I could get on them, or any other leads on the history of my car.
If I can't get that, how about some stories of the crazy Ferrari market of 1989/90?

Thanks for the offer, Alberto. I'm on the other side of the country in snowy Pittsburgh. If it's convenient for you, I would really appreciate seeing a picture of where my car once lived. Thanks!
Thanks also, Wayne. I saw those offerings, too. They were around one third of the price that the cars had been selling at just three years before!

They are now called cardiff classics and mostly sell high end modern cars with the occasional Ferrari. currently they have a 246 Dino and a 365 2+2 along with some modern F-cars. I have driven by them every day for the last 15 years and have bought and sold a few cars through them for myself and customers of mine. website is http://www.cardiffclassics.com/index.htm

Hey Matt, do you still want pictures of the place? I am planning on swinging by the area tomorrow. Let me know. If it is where Cardiff Classics is, its not much to look at, really. But I would be happy to do it. Symbolic is now located in La Jolla, much nicer location, but given Tom's comments, it has nothing to do with where your car came from.
Let me know.
