Step by step guide for installing new clutch 365GT 2+2
Hi everyone- hoping for some good advice before installing a new clutch on my 365GT 2+2.
So the clutch needs to be changed, it is only catching at the very top of the pedal and feels like it's about to go.
I realised that it is a bit complicated process to remove the Transmission on this model as the transmission shaft has a drive shaft tube around and some other obstacles for easy removal.
However, I still want to try to do it myself and was hoping for some tips from someone who has done this before. I did do a 330GT transmission removal with a mechanic friend and this went very smoothly. On that occasion we gently lifted the transmission upwards ( after removing tunnel and seats ) and just moved it out through the door - went very well. I believe on the 365GT 2+2 it will not be possible to do it the same way as not sure if the tunnel can be removed from inside.
Can anyone write a complete step by step guide to the best procedure for removing transmission, installing new clutch and putting it all back together.
Some picture would also be very useful if possible. And extra comments from anyone with experience from this job.
I got the clutch kit from OKP ( see picture ) Should I change anything else while having the transmission out ?
Also attached some picture of the transmission from the undercarriage ( not my car, but good pictures for illustrative purpose ).
Appreciate everyones help.
Thank you

Re: Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Transmission removal - new clutch
As you figured out, the transmission has to come out from the bottom for the 365GT 2+2. I seem to remember you will still have to remove some of the center console from inside the car to release the boot and the shifter ball. The shift ball and chrome tube have a special round nylon clip that secures them to the shift rod.
Rear axle slides back, and should provide enough clearance to drop the transmission. You have to loosen the pinch bolts that secure the splined shaft by accessing them through the holes in the torque tube. Be careful not to change the distance of the coupler where it sits on the splined shaft otherwise you won't be able to access them with a socket when it comes time to put it all back together! Unbolt the cross member and you'll have plenty of room to drop the transmission. Don't forget to disconnect the speedo cable and reverse light wiring.
Make sure you have a sturdy transmission jack when removing the transmission. It's a monster! Good luck!
