REMOVING LUSSO TURN SIGNAL STALK

Post by Steve Meltzer »

I have not yet started on this project, but before I do, can you remove the turn signal switch without removing the steering wheel? Any other tricks I need to be aware of?
thanks Steve

Steve, See the pigtail in the pictures. First disconnect the four wires of this pigtail from the junction block which is just to the left of the heater box. Then unscrew the small chrome ring around the stalk, and then the large chrome ring that retains the domed bezel. The dome falls out and now you can pull out the switch along with the pigtail. The pigtail goes through a hole in the underside of the aluminum casting. Be careful not to lose the pieces. To reinstall, thread a wire in through the hole in the casting and out the opening of the stalk, then tape the wire to the tip of the pigtail so you can fish the pigtail back through that hole. Hope this helps. Feel free to call me if you have questions.

Anytime Steve. I've had a handshake with every single part of the Lusso, as you might guess. The two white wires need to be marked, hopefully you did that. Otherwise you will crisscross the left/right signals.

John, Thanks again for your help on the repair of the turn signal switch. I sent it to Jim Simpson at ODD Parts and it came back today and it's installed and works beautifully. Nice and crisp. thanks again.

Do you know how I can get a wiring diagram for the car?

Thanks again, Steve

Hi Steve, to the best of my knowledge there is no official factory literature for the 250GT/L. It didn't even come with an owners' manual; a 250GTE manual accompanied the car leaving the factory. I would refer to the GTE material as a starting point.

Contact Kerry (330GT) for his GTE colored wiring diagram. Its perfect and I guess most wiring fir the Lusso will be comparable.
